A nutshell of our own making

When you are passed the nutcracker this Christmas, think of the following lines in Shakespeare’s Hamlet,

“I could be bounded in a nutshell, and count myself a king of infinite space…”

What we can take from Shakespeare’s words is the fact that our environment is not what limits our opportunities. Our upbringing, our financial situation, the country that we live in and the culture that we are a part of is not what is important. The truth is this – we are only limited by the scope of our imagination.

Our imagination is what creates our world and helps to shape our experiences and yet so often we don’t give it the importance it deserves.

The period between Christmas and New Year is the perfect time to start thinking about what you want 2011 to look like. Like a mirror, our inner world reflects our outer world, so find some quiet time to dust off your imagination and burst out of your shell to create the 2011 that you truly want.
