Recharge your batteries

People’s expectations regarding being available are far higher than they ever used to be. With fewer mobile reception black holes, and the majority of people in business using blackberrys and other portable devices, it is very easy to get caught up in this high speed race; the result can be increased stress.

Like a battery, it is important that we take time out to recharge. One very simple way to do this is to stop, wherever you are (not advisable if you are driving!) and let everything just rush past you until you have found some calm and clarity within yourself. When I lived in London I used to do this on the way to work – I would get up a little earlier and stop on Waterloo bridge and just watch the boats chugging up the Thames or simply view the people hurrying past me.

It may seem sometimes that the world will come to an end if you stop moving but strangely enough it doesn’t…
